28 Feb Contactica present in the latest LCA4BIO General Assembly in Luxembourg
On these past couple of days of February, 2025, the 2nd LCA4BIO General Assembly in Luxembourg took place at the LIST Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. This important event brought together the entire project consortium to review progress, discuss key achievements, and outline the next steps in developing enhanced Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies for bio-based systems. At the heart of the meeting was Contactica’s role as the project coordinator, where we proudly presented major advances from each work package.
Workshop on LCA Methodologies: CALIMERO & ALIGNED
During the first day of the assembly, a dedicated workshop was held in collaboration with CALIMERO and ALIGNED. This session provided a unique opportunity for all partners to engage in an in-depth dialogue about LCA methodologies. Participants explored various tools and best practices, discussed the challenges encountered, and identified potential synergies to improve sustainability assessment frameworks. The workshop not only reinforced the commitment of the LCA4BIO consortium but also promoted alignment in the approaches used by the research community.
Sharing Work Package Progress
Throughout the two-day event, each work package leader presented detailed updates on their respective tasks. These presentations highlighted significant advancements in refining LCA methodologies and enhancing sustainability assessment. In particular, discussions focused on:
- The development of standardized LCA tools designed to better assess bio-based systems.
- The integration of circularity aspects into existing LCA methodologies.
- Strategic planning for upcoming milestones and deliverables.
- Strengthening collaboration with sister projects to harmonize approaches and exchange critical insights.
These discussions were a testament to the dedication of the consortium and underscored the importance of effective project coordination in overcoming common challenges in European projects.
Looking Ahead
The LCA4BIO General Assembly Luxembourg provided an invaluable platform to reaffirm the consortium’s objectives and set the course for the next phases of the project. Contactica’s involvement has been instrumental in steering the project toward greater innovation and sustainability. As we move forward, the consortium remains committed to advancing harmonized LCA methodologies that support the green transition of European industries.
A huge thank you goes to all our partners for their dedication and valuable contributions, and a special thanks to LIST Luxembourg for hosting us in such an inspiring environment. Stay tuned for more updates as Contactica continues to lead European projects toward a sustainable, bio-based future.
